The Basic Mindfulness System

Can Help

The Basic Mindfulness System involves powerful internal skill building based on focusing techniques designed to bring about  brain changes leading to dramatic personal transformation.  Research presently supports the fact that mindfulness enhances neuroplasticity, i.e., the ability for the brain to change.  This new research on neuroplasiticity has shown that we can change our level of happiness by modifying both the activity and structure of our brain through mindfulness training.  It demonstrates that mindfulness increases activity in the brain associated with positive emotion and calms the area of the brain associated with negative emotion and overwhelm.   The research demonstrates that although happiness may not come about due to external circumstances, changing our internal circumstances through mindfulness, can bring about a happiness and  peace of mind that is independent of conditions.

Mindfulness-based strategies are timely remedies for busy lives that are increasingly fragmented by work, self, social responsibilities, and family. They are self-help methods that can be useful in all life situations and lead to independence from psychotherapy. Once you catch on to the methods, you more often than not will find resolutions to your own issues without the aid of a psychotherapist.

  Mindfulness training can offer you:

  • A greater capacity to be more present, connected and effective
  • Increased emotional balance
  • An ability to have thoughts, feelings and physical discomforts without being swept away, trapped, overwhelmed or controlled by them
  • Reduction or elimination of destructive behavior patterns
  • Effective ways to deal with stress
  • Improvement in communication skills
  • Acceptance of what cannot be changed

Mindfulness  helps you move through the subtle process of  exploring core beliefs that interfere with achieving an authentic life. You will move towards your problems rather than away from them. By moving towards your problems and truly encountering them as mind/body processes, you will develop a sense of empowerment as you begin to lose your fear of your inner experience and realize its impermanent nature. You can’t avoid feeling bad, and mindfulness helps you to feel bad in the right way and enjoy pleasure more fully than ever before.

Mindfulness can help you with problems such as every-day stress, coping with illness, anxiety, depression,  trauma ,addiction, physical pain, eating issues, relationship issues, anger management, loss, obsessive-compulsive disorder, attachment issues, poor concentration, sleep difficulties and other issues that impose upon your sense of well-being.

My goal is to help my clients achieve their goals and to develop a life imbued with hope, aliveness, and beauty. Since I myself have overcome significant personal challenges, I can offer you both hope and powerful solutions along with true understanding and compassion for your life and its unavoidable challenges.

Testimonials

“ I can hardly put into words just how much taking your seminar meant to me.  I mean this from the bottom of my heart.  The combination of wisdom, heart and personal sharing that you offered was truly beautiful and inspirational to me and I learned more on a theoretical and practical level than I can express.  Please keep me posted on your teaching schedule.  I would head out to Boulder in a “New York Minute” to take one of your seminars again.  I truly look forward to learning from someone as gifted as you.  Thank you once again for all the gifts you gave me in New York City.  I’ll take them with me always.”

“The meditations that Shelly taught me were very effective for dealing with two painful cancer surgeries.  I was able to recover from both operations without the use of pain medications.   Since I have a history of drug and alcohol abuse, this was very important to me and nothing short of a miracle.”

“Of my 30 plus years of attending trainings, Shelly is absolutely one of the best presenters.  A very gifted person!”

Don Ridings

“I had 7 sessions with Shelly over a period of 3 months.  When I started, I was terrified of my emotions and feared that I would end up like my mom who had been institutionalized for serious psychiatric problems. I was also terribly distraught and overwhelmed by family issues.  In my 7th session I was able to experience some powerful emotions without being overwhelmed.  That was my last session since I felt that I could work on my own.  It is now a year since I ended therapy and not only has my life continued to improve but I’m actually becoming the kind of person I’ve always wanted to be. ”

“Thank you for your presentation in Columbus and thanks for sharing your story.  The seminar was a life-transforming experience for me .  I have been a binge eater for almost 40 years and have struggled with unhealthy fad diets with no success.  After observing your craving demonstration and then applying it to myself, I have found that my cravings  have vanished.  I have been able to eat more healthful foods, to stop when I’m full and to stop obsessing about my weight.  It was so important to recognize the feelings in my body that accompany craving.

Another benefit I received from you seminar is that the pain I have in my hip after driving has nearly disappeared and I’m not stiff and limping when I get out of the car.  I continue to practice the techniques for 5 minutes, 3 times per day.”

Again, many thanks!
